Cultivating Coffee Trees

Coffea Arabica prefers high altitudes between 900 and 2,000 metres. They enjoy temperatures ranging between 20 and 25 °C as well as frequent rain. Coffea Canephora grows more often in low altitudes and prefers heat and humidity.

Depending on the region, coffee trees are either cultivated on large plantations or on small family plots of land, which is the case for Colombia. Brazil, on the other hand, has many plantations.

The best quality coffees usually come from cultivators who do all the work, from planting to gathering, by hand. In places where automation is dominant, the quality usually suffers a little.
